Currently popular at the moment is the Squirrel Buster Classic, but so to is the Squirrel Buster Suet, Mini and Peanut Plus.

However, all can be opened very easily in seconds, with even a child knowing how.

To fill certain Squirrel Busters would entail removing the hang bar to lift up and off the cage shroud - to do it an easier way would involve twisting the lid with a push down motion, before lifting it up and off again.

And that's it really, to then pour in seed mixes or nut, use a bird feeder scoop funnel or mug full of feed to carefully fill up the internal plastic tube to the top.

Beyond removing the cage shroud to fill with feed, you must once in a while continue to disassemble the whole thing, to know how to clean Squirrel Buster Bird Feeders.

Fill up by Squirrel Buster type

Knowing how to refill a Brome Squirrel Buster you have in your possession is easy as pie; of the 8 bird feeder options in total, there's only three easy ways they can be fill.

Standard

Standard Squirrel Buster doesn't make it at all difficult to fill with seeds, with just a few actions needed to open it up first thing.

Of course we need to open up the Standard to be able to top it up with fresh seed, and here's how its done...

Simply pull up the lengthy hang pole sitting on top of the lid; tip it to one side; then unhook the metal bar out of the corresponding hole through the steel pole.

What that now allows us to do is lift up and off the cage shroud.

Now using a bird feeder scoop or mug of up to 600g of seed mixes, simply pour the feed in to the clear plastic tube, up to the top if need be.

Legacy

Not easy to buy in-store these days, but the Squirrel Buster Legacy lives on, so it still helps to know how you fill the Squirrel Buster Legacy even to this day.

Simple as it gets once again with a few easy steps to lift up the whole cage shroud.

What you do is lift up the hang bar positioned on top of the lid to reveal a metal bar beneath it - all you have to do is remove the hanger from the hole insert.

That now allows you to lift up the cage shroud, unaided - to remove it away completely from the clear plastic tube.

Larger squirrel proof seed feeder this one so begin the process of topping it up with a scoop or jug full of seeds - up to a whopping 1.2Kg in total.

Plus

Largest seed capacity feeder in the Brome Squirrel Buster range this one, using a simple twist up lid top to open - with a load of seeds I might add.

What you do is with a counterclockwise twist action, is to push down on the lid for it to come to a stop, then lift up and off comes the lid.

Lid can be completely pulled away for your convenience, but there's no need for that, if only too simply pour in up to 2.3Kg seed mixes.

As the lid top hangs over - but still connected to one side - you can use the open top on the clear plastic tube to fill up with feed.

To remove the lid all together would be related to disassembling the feeder for cleaning, but that is not needed right now as we are only filling it up.

Classic

Easy as it goes to open the Squirrel Buster Classic to fill up with seeds as we don't want to risk breaking the wire the lid is connected to internally.

To fill, stand up the Squirrel Buster Classic on a table or flat surface of any kind to push down, twist to a stop, then lift off the lid.

At this point you don't want to lift up the lid too hard as it can indeed be pulled away off the wire its fixed too; but as we are only filling up the Squirrel Buster Classic, we can leave the lid to hang over to one side.

That of course would give us full access to the clear plastic tube we can pour as much as 1Kg of seeds in.

Squirrel Buster Classic is more user friendly as we don't need to remove the cage shroud to replenish with seeds.

Finch

Canadian design, built with a North American target market in mind, but we can still use the Squirrel Buster Finch for use with Nyjer seeds or Sunflower Hearts in most States.

Here's what we do then to fill it up with the more specialty bird seeds.

Simply twist the lid in a light counterclockwise direction while pushing it down at the same time - once it pops down you can then pop it up and open.

Lid can be pulled up and left to hang over to one side, so there's no use removing it from the wire as we can fill it up perfectly OK as it is.

Access to the plastic seed tube is via the top where the lid has been pull away, so use up to 1Kg of nyjer seeds, sunflower seeds or seed mixes as you see fit.

Peanut +

What is the only squirrel proof peanut feeder in the Brome Squirrel Buster series, is one that is just as user friendly than their seed selection.

To fill with peanuts then we are going to need access to the inner mesh cage that holds the peanut mix.

What we need to do then is lift up the hang bar to unhook it from the internal bar.

Once this hang bar has been removed we can then completely lift off the cage shroud from the actual peanut port.

Up to 600g of peanuts can then be poured into the clear plastic tube, but do note it can only be filled half way up, as the bottom half is reserved for catching access nuts.

Mini

Mini Squirrel Buster it may be called, but that is not to say its mini at all; in fact its still a fairly large seed feeder with a capacity of 454g. Not quite as big as a wooden hopper seed feeder, but still large enough for most yards.

How to fill the Squirrel Buster Mini then would be to unhook the hang bar from the metal bar fixed beneath it.

Pull that hang away to be able to lift up the cage shroud off the inner plastic tube that holds the seeds.

Pour as much seed mix as needed via the opening on top of this tube.

Filling process, as with all Squirrel Buster products, can be done with ease as the feeder sits upright on the surface.

Suet

Can appear quite overwhelming I grant you, but to open the Squirrel Buster Suet to fill it with one or two suet blocks, is easy as it comes.

To begin with opening stage to fill up, simply stand up the Squirrel Buster Suet to remove the hang bar from its corresponding metal bar, hidden beneath it - then completely pull off the cage shroud.

Then lay it down to lift up and over the green horizontal clamp, providing access to the yellow suet plate fixed behind it.

Remove this yellow suet plate to then pull up an additional metal clamp - at this point you can push in a suet block by hand - or avoid getting greasy hands by popping it in directly from its packaging.

Repeat this process to fill the second squirrel proof suet block feeder section on the opposite side.
